Corporate Events - Let's Go Racing!
Falconstor chose the Waterfront Center for an office outing that was a welcome relief from the heat. The group took the afternoon to learn the basics of sailing, then headed out for some racing on the bay in the WFC’s fleet of Sonars. Though thunderstorms threatened to cut the field trip short, we were lucky and the storms passed quickly, leaving behind great breeze that made for some exciting races!
People are often surprised to discover how difficult sailing can be, and how much it requires great communicating and an ability to make quick decisions, while simultaneously operating a large piece of equipment and trying to pay attention to what the wind is doing. A day of sailboat racing can be a great way to create a more cohesive, team-like dynamic among a group, while still enjoying the outdoors and having a great time.
FalconStor’s positive attitude and fun approach to racing was a great example, and it created a vibrant atmosphere out on the water that made the racing enjoyable for everyone, whether they were expert sailors already or had come to the WFC having never been on a boat. The evening went by in a flash, and before they knew it our novice sailors had blossomed into competitive racers that were hooked on a new sport. It was a great outing for the company, and a great reminder of just how fun and educational any sailing experience can be!
